Planted by Pastor Ogaat Soiraya in 2006, Cool Shade of Life has grown from a handful of friends in Pastor Ogaat’s living room, to a vibrant church of about 50 members.

Cool Shade of Life Church has been an integral partner in the founding of Serge’s team in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It is quickly outgrowing the storefront rental space they are using for worship, Sunday school, meetings, and fellowship. To answer this problem, the church is seeking to build a new building near its current location.

A building would be strategic to the future of the church’s growth
for many reasons:

• It will provide a larger space for worship and other ministries.
• It will alleviate the costs of renting space.
• It will be designed with ministry in mind.
• It will be used as the offices for the church’s/Serge’s foundation.
• It will be used to host trainings for pastors and church planters from around Thailand.
• It will be able to host interns, mission teams, etc who come to Thailand to help with ministry.
• In Thai culture, organizations like churches don’t really exist unless they have a physical location.
• Having a physical presence in the local community will help deepen the church’s relation withthe local community.

In 2021, God richly blessed Cool Shade with a plot of land that is strategically located and large enough to host a new building for the church. With the help of an architect, plans were drawn up for a 2-phase building project.

To encourage local ownership of this project, Serge’s participation in raising funds will begin when Cool Shade of Life has been able to raise 25% of the cost of each phase.

Your contributions to this project will empower Cool Shade of Life church to grow and expand their impact on their local community. It will also provide a physical location for our foundation and the space from which to carry out the foundation’s work.

Serge strives to follow donor intent. All giving to Serge is under the discretion of the Serge Board and is used to further the broad mission of Serge. We will give preference to the project and field the donor designates.
