Michaela was raised in Birmingham, AL. For as long as she can remember, she always wanted to be a teacher. Her teachers would allow her to bring supplies home from a young age and she would teach her siblings and sometimes even stuffed animals. Between babysitting, working in her church nursery and teaching, Michaela spends most of her time with children and loves it! She can't imagine pursuing anything else and she is excited to grow as an educator.

Michaela is graduating from Samford University in Birmingham in May of 2020 with a major in Early Childhood, Elementary and Special Education. It was at Samford where she developed a heart for teaching in a culture different than her own. She was given the opportunity to teach in a Ugandan school the summer of 2019. This was a life-changing experience that strengthened her faith. It was in Uganda where Michaela discovered her passion for teaching students who do not have the same access to education as students in America.

Michaela was introduced to Serge through one of her professors and her heart was moved as God opened the door for her to follow His will. She is so excited to be joining the team in Bundibugyo, Uganda as a Missionary Kid Teacher and can't wait to experience teaching in a new place!

Michaela has a passion for building relationships with her students as well as parents. She hopes that she will provide comfort for families, support in the community and build partnerships with local schools. Michaela is excited to see how her faith is strengthened throughout this amazing opportunity that God has given her.
