Nyankunde, D.R. Congo
Peter and Rebekah are missionary doctors currently raising support to serve in Nyankunde, DRC. They initially moved to Africa in 2019 as part of Samaritan's Purse two year Post-Residency Program where they lived in Togo and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Following the completion of
the program in 2021 they joined Serge in order to follow God's call on their lives to return to Nyankunde long-term.
The Staffords met in medical school at The Ohio State University. They were married in 2013 and then lived in Lexington, KY for 5 years where they completed residency programs at the University of Kentucky, Peter in general surgery and Rebekah in obstetrics and gynecology. They have three children, Luke (2018), Lorraine (2020) and Hope (2021). While in the United States they are living in Richmond, VA where Peter is completing a one year fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University in burn surgery.
When not working their lives are mostly occupied with entertaining their little kids. However, in their free time Peter is usually found playing sports or reading about them; Rebekah loves to be outside either walking, hiking or running and has enjoyed adventures in creative cooking over the last few years.
The Staffords view living and working in Nyankunde as a true privilege. They are excited to join Serge and to participate in the work being done to share God's love and grace for a place that has suffered so much and experienced incredible loss.
