Ashley Laubach

Ashley grew up in a Christian home in the rapidly growing town of Crozet, Virginia. She attended church and youth group, but up until college, her understanding of faith was very legalistic -- a simple list of "dos" and "do nots."

Her heart for missions began to develop in college, as her love for God deepened. In 2013, she attended James Madison University (JMU) with her own plans of becoming a coach, but God so graciously redirected her. After joining the campus ministry InterVarsity her freshman year, she went on a mission trip to New York City over spring break, and her heart broke at the overwhelming sight of injustice. It was this trip that led her to pursue a degree in sociology, and a minor in Christian Studies, with the idea of serving as a missionary in the back of her mind.

She became a small group leader through InterVarsity her second year at JMU and absolutely loved mentoring and discipling others. She's had multiple jobs working with youth students in camp, church, and after-school settings.

After she went to Urbana (missions conference) in 2015, she started seriously pursuing missions. God gave her a sense of urgency for the gospel on a global scale. She started conversation with Serge after the conference and took interest in the Apprenticeship program in Ireland. God has greatly affirmed her in this calling to serve Him overseas for the next two years and has given me overwhelming peace in Him.
