“This is how we know that we love God’s children: when we love God and obey his commands. For this is what love for God is: to keep his commands. And his commands are not a burden, because everyone who has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith.” (1 John 5:2-4)

Jessica holds a B.A. in Art from the University of Houston. She became an elementary art teacher in 2015, teaching KG-4th grade students. Jessica has served in children’s ministry as a small group leader at her church in Tomball, TX since 2013. She has previous cultural experience in Japan, through two summer homestays during high school through an international exchange program and studying Japanese for two years in college.

The Lord started to connect the dots for Jessica between her interest in missions and her love for Japan with the Perspectives course in 2015. After learning about God’s heart for the nations through reading Scripture, studying church history, and speaking to local and overseas missionaries, Jessica recognized a desire to go. God opened her eyes to Japan through the loss of a missionary family, reminding her of a need for laborers and her own prior experiences there. As a result, she reached out to Christ Bible Institute in Japan and served as a summer intern in 2017.

In all of her life experiences--homestays, teaching, church membership, an internship--Jesus has revealed in Jessica a desire for connection and relationships with people. She hopes to continue to explore relational ministry in Japan as an apprentice with CBI and Serge. She also hopes to discern whether God would call her to live and share Christ with the people of Japan as a long-term missionary.
