Marc and Stephanie Carrigan

Marc and Stephanie Carrigan

Marc and Stephanie have been married since 2005 and have four children - Eli ('09), Hailey ('10), Isaac ('13) and Katelyn ('14). Marc is a Family Physician with special interests in obstetrics, ultrasound, global health and medical education. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Via Christi in Wichita, Kan., and a fellowship in International Medicine. Stephanie is a Family Nurse Practitioner with special interests in lactation and pediatric nutrition. She completed RN and Masters in Nursing degrees at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

They have been interested in medical missions for more than a decade and have served in 10 countries. After spending five months with two young children in Niger, West Africa, they felt called to pursue long-term missionary placement. They were drawn to Serge because of the organization's emphasis on Gospel-centered ministry.

While visiting Bundibugyo in the spring of 2014, Marc and Stephanie were moved by the spiritual and physical needs of this region in western Uganda. Growth and maturity of the local church continues to be the ministry's focus while healthcare, education, and water projects serve as a visible means of demonstrating God's grace to the people. They are excited to move forward in faith to serve with this team.

Marc plans to work as a physician and educator at Nyahuka Health Center where he will care for children, pregnant women, and adults. He also hopes to serve as a mentor for newly graduated Ugandan physicians who return to work in Bundibugyo. Stephanie will work on building relationships with local women as she serves her family from the home.
