Lauren Housel

I grew up in the small town of Barboursville, Virginia. I started going on mission trips in middle school and high school, and developed a heart for working with children. In high school I realized I wanted to pursue mission work long term. After I graduated I did an internship in London and worked with recovering drugs addicts, alcoholics and homeless. That experience changed my life and I had peace that God was calling me to ministry even though I didn't know where quite yet.

I continued my education to Liberty University, because of all the opportunities for mission work. I decided to major in Family and Child Development, and worked at many after school programs for underprivileged children. I volunteered with the Child Life Specialists at UVA in the Pediatric Wing and had the privilege of helping children with many different illnesses. I believe God has given me gifts and abilities to work with children of numerous ages. God has provided so many opportunities and when He opened the door to serve with Serge I was confident that He would equip me.

I will be graduating in May 2018 and will be heading to Uganda as an Apprentice to serve in the Christ School, as well as with the Missionary Kids. I will be there for 18 months and I am so excited to see how God grows, and challenges me in this new season. I look forward to fully relying on God like never before and helping in expanding His kingdom for His glory!
